Studies show that petting an animal can be very soothing and calming. This is why we invited Kodi to join the office. Kodi is still learning how to be therapeutic. He gets anxious when meeting someone new too. This is why Kodi bark,s and his bark is LOUD! However, Kodi would never ever bite anyone; instead, Kodi uses his coping skills to calm down, and usually he falls asleep by the end of your session because he is so calm!
An ancient Buddhist story explains:
A lotus is a survivor; it pushes its way through the dark muddy, murky waters to find the warmth & nourishment of the Light. Only then is it ready to open its petals, not all at once, but one at a time, signifying achievement of survival, life, hope & opportunity.
A lotus has strength & beauty. It can overcome all its environmental obstacles to show the world its resilience.
We all face obstacles: sadness, loss, illness, loneliness, fear of what's to come, or regret.
We gain wisdom & compassion in the mud & darkness, our common ground. We get so busy & distracted we don't recognize our abilities or achievements & can lose our way.
This is why we chose the lotus. Like each of us, it is a strong, resilient, beautiful survivor. We would like to walk with you through your muddied darkness, & help you grow in compassion for yourself and the world around you, bringing healing through hope.
